Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Dispatcher is responsible for ensuring efficiency in the day-to-day operations which includes building relationships with drivers and customers.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Ensure Dispatchers trace fleet to identify status of each unit and address exceptions (late, unplanned, weather restricted, road closures, detours, breakdowns etc.)
• Liaison with Planners to resolve issues that may arise including home time, hours of service, geography and overnight qualification.
• Liaison with Planners and CSR's to resolve and prevent service exceptions.
• Balance Company and Driver expectations on a daily basis by coaching drivers through mileage, home time, performance issues and load quality.
• Communicate and obtain confirmation of plans with drivers
• TMW Trip Folder
• Respond to Driver satellite inquiries
• Monitor Drivers to ensure compliance with load parameters
• Communicate with Safety Department regarding any issues related to Driver hours of service, medicals, license expirations, safe driving and accidents.
• Maintain contact with key account customers to obtain feedback on their level of satisfaction with the operations services provided by ABT
• Communicate with Customer Service Staff regarding changes in customer load information
• Provide support to Customer Service Reps regarding management of their accounts
• Handle/resolve customer complaints in an expedient and cost-effective manner
• Communicate with key customers regarding the day-to-day movement of loads
• Implement alternative measures to rectify unresolved issues
• Communicate asset/load assignment through TMW to Dispatch
• Develop and maintain a positive rapport with drivers to understand their needs, issues, and be aware of industrial trends.
• Ensure that ABT minimizes failures and operational delays in the region by supporting Maintenance Department initiatives
The successful candidate will have:
• Minimum of grade 12 with post-secondary education an asset
• 2-3 years' experience in a similar role or driving experience
• Self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize the daily responsibilities using multi-tasking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent computer knowledge & experience specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook, TMW and Results Now
• Strong customer service focus
• Exceptional organizational & problem-solving skills
• Exceptional planning and organizing
• Problem assessment and problem solving
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Able to be Flexible/Adaptable
• Able to work as part of a team
