Reporting directly to the Manager of Operations, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that assigned loads are executed in a manner that exceeds customer expectations and budgeted logistics percentage gross margin sales targets, monitoring the exchange of ABT and 3rd party trailers to ensure timely recovery/return and condition of equipment and ensuring all third-party invoices with discrepancy are reviewed and processed in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain a listing of established 3rd party carriers that have proven qualifications.
• On assignment of load, contact approved carrier with specifications to determine equipment availability and negotiate rate.
• Manage RPM carrier, ensure all trucks are accounted and get planned in timely fashion.
• On board RPM carriers and regularly mentor them through ABT processes and our service expectations.
• If non approved carrier, verify availability, load specifications, negotiate rate and ask carrier to forward qualifications to ABT Logistics for verification/approval.
• Plan carrier code against the load in TMW and send load confirmation sheet to carrier.
• Track and trace all loads from point of origin to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Ensure carriers on expedited loads report position twice daily.
• Monitor Logistics group email during business hours and ensure all emails are actioned.
• Intermittently monitor Logistics group email afterhours to ensure issues are resolved and afterhours personnel are included.
• Respond to carrier and accounts payable queries on outstanding invoices and POD's.
• Develop and maintain lists of contacts for customers and brokers who possess freight contracts of use.
• Participate in the credit application process with A/R department by acquiring credit application details from potential customers and freight brokers.
• Negotiate rates based on researched market trends and averages of similar prior loads.
• Respond to tracing requests from customers as requested.
Qualifications & Competencies:
• Minimum of grade 12 with post-secondary education an asset
• 1-3 years' experience in a similar role
• Self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize the daily responsibilities using multi-tasking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent computer knowledge & experience specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook, TMW and Results Now
