Arnold Bros. Transport Ltd. is seeking an experienced manager with fleet maintenance expertise to join our Winnipeg Maintenance team. This opportunity reports directly to the Director of Maintenance and is ideal for someone seeking the ability to influence change, open communications, improve effectiveness and foster a culture of trust and safety.

The Manager, Maintenance Services is primarily accountable for minimizing equipment down-time and overseeing the repair order process and ensuring quality work is completed in the most cost effective and safe manner possible.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the repair order process and ensure work is completed in the most cost effective and safe manner minimizing failures and operational delays
  • Monitor work quality to ensure high customer satisfaction and minimal repair come backs
  • Oversee warranty repairs and ensure claims are processed and forwarded to supplier
  • Accurately track and control inventory to maximize revenues, minimize loss and ensure timely completion of work
  • Minimize fleet breakdowns by ensuring scheduled service is performed on all assets according to our preventative maintenance program
  • Minimize unplanned downtime, solve problems in a timely manner and identify opportunities for improvement though regular reviews
  • Ensure maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and directed so that maintenance can be accomplished safely and cost effectively
  • Tracks, analyzes, and improves key maintenance metrics including asset utilization, maintenance costs, PM compliance and schedule compliance
  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving department performance and solving maintenance-related problems
  • Effectively manage the maintenance team by recruiting and effectively managing the team
  • Cultivate a work environment where employee contributions are valued, coaching and feedback are provided, and performance reviewed and discussed continually
  • Ensure technician certification and training is kept current
  • Oversee staffing levels and assigned work to meet customer needs and maximize profitability
  • Monitor safety and environmental compliance and advise senior management of potential risks
    Create maintenance procedures that increase productivity and reduce operating costs per mile
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Build and maintain positive relations with external parties (customers and suppliers)
  • Assist in developing an annual department budget

The successful candidate will have:

  • 5-years' experience in a similar maintenance management position
  • Relevant post-secondary degree/diploma, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Exceptional ability to manage, coach and develop team members
  • Excellent organizational skills and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong proactive problem solver
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative and innovative
  • Strong written communications - creates concise technical reports
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive situations
